Behio Galerie started out of frustration with fast fashion, worn for one season and then thrown out. We wanted a store you could browse like an exhibition catalogue, not dig through like a clearance bin. That is why we choose few pieces, but ones that can be worn for years and combined endlessly.

Every piece in the collection comes from a specific workshop and a specific material we can actually name. We weave the wool for our coats at an Italian mill, the leather for our shoes and bags is worked by a Portuguese workshop with three generations of tradition, and our silk scarves are hand dyed in small batches in France. When we cannot do something properly, we would rather leave it out of the collection.

Why small batches

Large batches mean compromise, either in the material or in who made the piece and under what conditions. We would rather make fewer pieces, ones we stand behind. That means something sometimes sells out for a few weeks. We treat that as part of the principle, not as a mistake.

How we choose

Every piece has to hold up on its own, even next to the others. That is why the palette stays in quiet, undyed tones, a coat goes with a dress just as well as with a sweater, a scarf goes with everything. We do not chase trends for one season, we build a wardrobe that assembles itself.
