Combed Wool Coat

We built this coat as the first layer, the one an entire fall wardrobe can be built around. The wool is combed, not carded, so it holds its shape and does not pill even after seasons of wear. The cut is deliberately oversized, with welt pockets and one large lapel collar that can be turned up against the wind. It wears over a sweater or a thin shirt just as well, and closing it takes just one belt, tied or left loose. The color is charcoal, quiet, and works with everything else in the collection. We make it in a small Portuguese workshop from Italian wool, so the runs are not large and the coat sometimes sells out for a few weeks.
